PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dismantling method and a dismantling device for a cylindrical structure that can always secure a working scaffolding and smoothly proceed with work without needing a large-sized heavy machine for dismantlement. SOLUTION: Three or more guide posts 1 are provided at approximately equal spaces around the side of the cylindrical structure 50 to be dismantled. A platform 4 vertically movable being guided by the guide posts 1 is built up, and guide post members 2 formed in prescribed length 2L are lifted by lifting means 6, 7 provided on the platform 4, and connected to the upper end parts of the guide posts 1 to extend them. After lifting the platform 4 up to the top part of the cylindrical structure, the lifting means 6 is moved onto a frame 8 built up on the platform 4, and the cylindrical structure 50 is dismantled by the height portion of approximately the prescribed length 2L by a dismantling means 11 fitted to the lower side of the frame 8. The platform 4 is lowered by the same height, and the guide post members 2 at the upper ends of the guide posts 1 are hung down by the lifting means 6 to dismantle the cylindrical structure 50 successively from the top part to the base end part.
