PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a display image in an active area from being disturbed. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device comprising a color filter substrate having a color filter 14 for on a transparent substrate; an opposed substrate sealed at its circumferential area by using a seal member and placed opposite to the color filter substrate; and a liquid crystal 2 and a spacer 18 filled into a space demarcated by the color filter substrate, the opposed substrate and the seal member, the shortest distance between the color filter provided to the color filter substrate and the seal member is made shorter than an average radius of the spacer. Since the effect of the step difference of the color filter is substantially eliminated, the display quality in the active area can surely be maintained. |
