PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feed cassette for preventing paper jamming or overlapping feed due to excessive stacking. SOLUTION: When recording media 30, 32 are excessively stacked on a center plate 170, the preset number of recording media 30 are located at a regular position under a pawl 178. However, parts of the recording media, exceeding the preset number, are put on a protrusion and located higher than the protrusion. When the paper feed cassette in such a condition is mounted on a digital copying machine 50, the recording media 32 hit an upper wall 100b of an opening 100a. The paper feed cassette 150 cannot, therefore, be mounted on the digital copying machine 50.
