A sludge suction machine travels up and down the bottom of the tank, using pumps (5) to suck up sludge through nozzles (2) for disposal. A method for cleaning sedimentation tanks in waterworks in order to remove sludge formed by flock formation, comprises the use of a sludge suction machine installed in the base of the tank. The machine is provided with suction nozzles covering the entire width of the tank and it can be moved along the entire length of the tank, during which it sucks up sludge using pumps. The sludge is removed for disposal without the tank being taken out of operation. |
