PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair type massager capable of resolving a nuisance of setting an upper reversing position of a massage member to a physique every time a user changes. SOLUTION: A plurality of light receiving sensors PS1, PS2, and PS3 are arranged in a front face of a back rest 4 at mutually different heights. When the user sits in a sitting part of the massager 1 and operates an infrared ray type remote controller 14, a shoulder position setting means determines shoulder positions from positions of light receiving sensors shaded from infrared light emitted from the remote controller by shoulders of the user, and it automatically sets the upper reversing position in vertical movement of the massage member.
