PURPOSE: A device for preventing the overheating of a portable system is provided to prevent the damage of a CPU or the corresponding portable system according to an excessive heat in the hang-up of a system or a microprocessor by mounting a thermistor in a fan module. CONSTITUTION: A thermistor(34) measures whether a temperature increased by a heat generated in a CPU(28) is reached to a predetermined critical temperature after the hang-up of a corresponding portable system or a microprocessor(10), and outputs a result signal. A resistor(36) maintains the critical temperature of the thermistor(34), and maintains a certain level of the result signal in the thermistor(34) until the temperature of the thermistor(34) is reached to the critical temperature. A switch(38) blocks transmission of a power on signal being output in a south bridge to a transistor(14) in accordance with the result signal from the thermistor(34), and turns off a power of the corresponding portable system compulsorily. The thermistor(34) and the resistor(36) are mounted in a fan module. The switch(38) is mounted between a south bridge(12) and the transistor(14).
