PURPOSE: A safety apparatus for an electric range is provided to achieve in-advance prevention against electric shock or electric leakage, while reducing electric power consumption. CONSTITUTION: An electric range comprises a heater(20) mounted in a tray(21) made of an insulating material and installed within a housing(10); and a ceramic plate(30) mounted on the housing so that the ceramic plate covers the heater and other components. The ceramic plate has, at a bottom surface thereof, a sensor(31) for sensing cracks of breakage of the ceramic plate and transmitting signals to a control unit(40) for cutting off the power being supplied to the heater. The housing has, at a bottom surface thereof, a cooling fan(50) for compulsorily discharging the hot air generated from the housing during heating operation of the heater. The cooling fan has louvers(51) for supplying cool air from an external source. The ceramic plate has heater adjustment knobs(60) with variable resistors(61). The heater adjustment knob selects output value of the voltage being supplied to the heater and controls the heating temperature of the heater to the temperature range set by a user.
