PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk recording and reproducing device that can record a signal on a disk. SOLUTION: This optical disk recording and reproducing device constituted so that a signal once stored is read to a RAM 12 for buffer and the signal is thereby recorded on a Disk D, so that a recording operation can be resumed from a location where a recording has been interrupted, and so that recording speed is modified as a recording location moves to the periphery side of the Disk D, is provided with a pickup control circuit 5 which performs control operation of an optical pickup 3, and an error detection circuit 14 which detects an error of a servo signal obtained from the pickup control circuit 5. An error detection level at a predetermined location of the Disk D is set for every disk D to be used, and based on a set up error detection level the error detection level is compensated in response to recording speed.
