PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, an image processing method, a computer program, and a recording medium which can distribute a large quantity of information, which can be added to image information as additional information, so as to fill the image information with the distributed information visually inconspicuously. SOLUTION: An error correction code is calculated from additional information x(i) added to image information D1 and a multiplex information y(j), composed of the additional information and the error correction code added to the information, is generated by a correction encoding unit 13. Then, the bit row of the generated multiplex information y(j) is rearranged into a prescribed bit row by an operation of a shuffling unit 14 to generate multiplex information z(j). Further, the multiplex information z(j) with the rearranged bit row is buried in the image information D1 by an additional information multiplexing unit 15 to generate image information D2. The image information D2 which is filled with the multiplex information z(j) is printed by a printer 16 and outputted as a printed image 17.
