PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method for manufacturing a toner with little variance in the electrification property in toner particles and no deformation or excess pulverization of particles in the process of mixing particles of an electrification controlling agent with resin particles containing a coloring agent prepared in a water-base medium in a method to impart proper electrification ability to the toner. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic toner is obtained by dissolving or dispersing a toner composition comprising at least a polymer compound and a coloring agent in an organic solvent, dispersing the dissolved material or dispersed material in a water-base medium to perform the polymerization addition reaction, removing the solvent of the emulsified dispersion liquid to obtain resin particles containing the coloring agent, and then mixing the resin particles with particles of an electrification controlling agent and/or particles of an external additive.
