PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide true La(OiPr)3 suitable for a raw material for an asymmetric synthesis catalyst, and its producing method. SOLUTION: The high purity La(OiPr)3 is obtained in 77% yield by reacting anhydrous lanthanum chloride LaCl3 and potassium isopropoxide K(OiPr) in a mixed solvent of isopropanol and toluene, then substituting toluene for isopropanol by removing isopropanol by distillation, then obtaining a clear filtrate by decantation and filtration after standing, removing the solvent from this filtrate by distillation and drying under vacuum with heat. The obtained La(OiPr)3 contains 97-103% of calculated La, 0.3% or less of impurity K, 0.01% or less of (Li+Na) and 0.2% or less of Cl and has 5.5-6.5 of degree of association.
