PURPOSE: A remote measurement device using a telephone line and a control method therefor are provided to automatically control a measurement object in a remote place without separately using a wireless remote module unit of a high price by connecting to the measurement object using a caller ID through the telephone line and transmitting meter reading data measured from the measurement object to a central control center of the remote place through the telephone line. CONSTITUTION: A telephone line interface unit(2) interfaces a remote transmission signal transmitted through a telephone line(1). A caller ID decoder(3) decodes only a caller ID signal among authentication acknowledgement signals received by the telephone line interface unit(2), and outputs the decoded caller ID signal. An MCU(Micro-Control Unit)(5) compares the caller ID signal decoded by the caller ID decoder(3) with a previously stored caller ID, outputs a remote meter reading control signal, and controls the remote meter reading function of a remote meter reading device(4). A detection sensor unit(7) reads the use quantity of electricity from an detection object device(6) according to the remote meter reading control signal of the MCU(5), and outputs remote meter reading data. A memory unit(8) stores the remote meter reading data outputted from the detection sensor unit(7) according to a storing control signal of the MCU(5). A dialing signal processing unit(9) converts the remote meter reading data stored in the memory unit(8) into a DTMF(Dual Tone Multi Frequency) signal and transmits the DTMF signal to the telephone line(1) through the telephone line interface unit(2) according to a transmission control signal of the MCU(5). |
