PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration in printing quality by preventing heat troubles to a recording medium in a printer having a high printing speed, and stably drying and fixing ink. SOLUTION: The ink jet printer is constituted comprising a line head having printing nozzles over the entire printing width, a first drying means which is located on the upstream side from the line head and heats and dries the recording medium from the non-recording side of the recording medium, a second drying means which is located on the downstream side from the line head and heats and dries the recording medium from the non-recording side of the recording medium after printing, a third drying means which is provided in a position opposite to the second drying means and heats and dries the recording medium in a non-contact state from the recording surface side of the recording medium, and a transfer control means of the recording medium located on the downstream from the line head.
