PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for quantitatively producing a high specific surface area carbon material at a low heat source cost relating to the producing method and efficiently and in easy operation, in making the carbon material having the high specific surface area by adding a chemical such as zinc chloride or phosphoric acid to a wooden raw material and heating it or by activating the wooden raw material by heating with flowing steam or carbon dioxide gas for a long time at a high temperature of 900 to 1,200 deg.C after carbonizing the wooden raw material subjecting it to heat treatment wherein the wooden raw material is heated by a high temperature gas supplied by a combustion furnace other than the combustion furnace. SOLUTION: The method comprises producing wooden charcoal and at the same time quantitatively making an activated carbon or the high specific surface area carbon material by passing a pipe housing a screw for producing the activated carbon within a carbonizing furnace. |
