<p>Oxygen sensor comprises a housing (2) having an channel-like opening (6) lying opposite a further opening (4) and acting as a measuring opening. The further opening can be closed using a closing part (3). The opening (6) extends from the outer wall (5a) of the base toward the inner wall (5b) of the base through a shoulder-like step (6a) directed radially outward. The edge of a liquid-impermeable but gas-permeable membrane and one or more sealing plates are pressed against the step. The housing contains an electrolyte solution, preferably a 3 M potassium chloride solution, and an anode (11) and cathode (12) immersed in the solution. The electrodes are held on the closing part and are made from metals selected from electrochemical series. To produce a clamping force, the holding part (10) which holds the sealing plates sits in the radial extension of the measuring opening and has a axial length extending from its end (10a) on the membrane edge or one the sealing plates upward toward the closing part.
