A filter cloth 18 on a rotating drum 16 dips into a slurry tank 12 wherein a filter cake 29 is formed on the cloth and filtrate is removed by suction over the sections A and B. Over section C the cake is washed prior to removal by any suitable means, such as blow back air over section D or a knife, into a shoot 27. While passing through section E air is forced through the cloth to remove any remaining cake and the cloth is washed by water or wash liquor from sprays 25. The wash liquid and any cake removed over section E is prevented from entering the slurry pan 12 by a divider member comprising a rigid part 37 having a flexible tip 38 attached to it which contacts the drum to form seal. A stirrer 19 is provided for the slurry in tank 12. The Specification describes the filter when used for filtering slurries of calcium sulphate in phosphoric acid. |
