PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which is effective in fixing a cargo or releasing the fixing of the cargo and is based on the practical use of automatic fixing of a cargo in a cargo handling vehicle wherein the cargo held by a cargo holding means rising and lowering along a mast is fixed to the cargo holding means based on the vertical motion of the cargo holding means. SOLUTION: The cargo handling device of a forklift truck is provided with a pallet fixing device 10 which fixes a pallet in relation to a fork 6. The fixing arm 11 of the pallet fixing device 10 is energized by a fixing arm energizing mechanism 20 including a compression coil spring 23 in the direction to fix a cargo or release a fixed cargo keeping the cargo fixed or released. The fixing arm energizing mechanism 20 is provided with a tension coil spring 27 which energizes the operation lever 17 in the direction to release a fixed cargo. The tension coil spring 27 restores the fixing arm 11 to a released state when the fixing arm 11 fixes no cargo.
