The closing device has a locking yoke (2) on the vehicle body and a rotary catch on the side door. The catch engages over the yoke which when a predetermined force in the vehicle longitudinal direction has been exceeded (side impact crash) can be extended by a certain amount from the body for extra security. The locking yoke can be fixed on the body by a separate assembly plate.
