Heat-insulating composite system for heat-insulating a building wall comprises at least one insulating plate (1) preferably made of a fiber material and having two large surfaces (2, 3) arranged a distance part with a peripheral groove (6) in between, at least one holding rail for fixing on the wall, and at least one connecting rail (13). The holding rail and the connecting rail engage in the groove. The connecting rail arranged between the insulating plate and an adjacent insulating plate is supported on the wall and/or on the holding rail. The insulating plate has on the surface facing the wall at least one recess (8) receiving an additional rail (9) supported on the wall and/or on the holding rail. An Independent claim is also included for an insulating plate used in the above system. Preferred Features: The additional rail has the same profile as the connecting rail. The recess extends perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the insulating plate.
