<p>An external preparation containing a gallic acid derivative component composed of at least 90 % by mass of (A) one or more gallic acid derivatives represented by the general formula (I) wherein two of R2, R3, and R4 are each a mono-, di-, or oligo-saccharide residue and 0.001 to below 10 % by mass of (B) one or more gallic acid derivatives represented by the general formula (I) wherein one of R2, R3 and R4 is a mono-, di-, or oligo-saccharide residue, each percentage being based on the total content of gallic acid derivatives of the general formula (I). (I) In the general formula, R1 is hydrogen, alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonium salt, or alkyl having 1 to 18 carbon atoms or alkenyl; and R2, R3, and R4 are each hydrogen, hydroxyl, C1-18 alkoxy, a polyoxyethylene group, a polyoxypropylene group, or a mono-, di-, or oligo-saccharide residue.</p> |
