A seat with an extending footrest has the seat with a forward sliding facility and at the same time dragging the seat back into a more reclining attitude. As the seat is pushed forwards a footrest cushion moves out from under the seat, on a telescopic frame, and lifts to form a flush support with the seat. The raised setting of the footrest cushion is secured by a ratchet. To return the seat into the upright position the ratchet is released manually and the telescopic frame pushed back into the seat frame.
