PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite machining device capable of conducting cutting and welding with a single machine. SOLUTION: The machining device is composed of a kinetic coordinate system having five shafts which can simultaneously be controlled, that is, three linear moving shafts and two rotation shafts around either one of them, and is constituted by adding a tool rotation function to one of the five shafts. In the device, a cutting tool 51 and a friction stir welding tool 52 are provided, and to this occasion, torque current in the rotation shaft of the tool 52 during friction stir welding is monitored. Current value at the time when a large- diameter part of the tool 52 contacts to a work is previously set, and quantity of insertion of the tool 52 is controlled so as to be less than this current value. As a result, excellent welding can be achieved, and cutting and welding can be conducted with one single machine. By so doing, an equipment cost, installation place, building area, lead time and machining cost can be reduced.
