PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyamide resin of high quality hardly suffering from uneven thickness, yellowing, deterioration in mechanical strength and the like and suitably employable for applications such as molding materials, bottles, sheets, films, fibers and the like. SOLUTION: The polyamide resin is obtained by subjecting a diamine containing at least 70 mole% of the total of xylylenediamine and bisaminomethylcyclohexane to a polycondensation with a dicarboxylic acid, where the total amount of impurities having a boiling point at normal pressure of at least 150 deg.C and at most 300 deg.C and a solubility parameter (SP value) of at least 8 and at most 16 is at most 0.3 wt.% in the polyamide resin.
