ANIMAL WITH INSUFFICIENT EXPRESSION OF THYMIDINE PHOSPHORYLASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonhuman animal with insufficient expression of thymidine phosphorylase useful as a model animal for researches of physiological functions of the thymidine phosphorylase, elucidation of pathophysiology of diseases associated with the thymidine phosphorylase such as thymidine dysbolism and further studies of pharmacokinetics of nucleoside antimetabolites. SOLUTION: This nonhuman animal deficient in functions of a thymidine phosphorylase gene on a chromosome and its offspring are provided. Furthermore, the nonhuman animal deficient in the functions of the thymidine phosphorylase gene and a uridine phosphorylase gene on the chromosome and its offspring are provided.
