FIRE ENGINE AND FIRE PUMP OPERATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly start the discharge of non-pressurized water with a fire engine as quickly as possible and minimize damage of a fire. SOLUTION: The fire engine is equipped with a fire pump P having a water discharge duct 12 to which a water discharge hose is connected and a water suction duct 11 to which a suction pipe is connected, a vacuum pump VP1 priming non-pressurized water through the water suction duct from the suction pipe by a negative pressure action into the fire pump and in which relay ducts 13L and 13R taking in pressurized water are connected to the halfway point of the water suction duct, and cutoff means 20L and 20R cutting off communication between the relay ducts and the water suction duct when the vacuum pump supplies non-pressurized water are provided in the connections between the relay ducts and the water suction ducts.
