PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the diagnostic ability by displaying an animated observa tion image under examination in a first region and the corresponding still-image in a second region of a display means. SOLUTION: By displaying right and left animated images on the same monitor screen 175A, an observation body image for shaping determination is made easy to confirm whether they are within the left and right of the screen field angle. In case where the observation body is captured in both right and left field angles, the images are made still by means of a freeze button provided in an operation part and the like of a stereoscope 172. With respect to a section necessary for shaping determination within the left and right images made still, a mouse is used to direct the section such that shaping data such as polyp, a lesion area, etc., are calculated at a shaping processing unit 174, and a still image with a stored shaping data is displayed in a subscreen 178 as shown in Figure 23 (b). In the main screen 179 an animated image of the section undergoing a shaping determination in the animated imaging from the stereo- endoscope apparatus 173, is displayed.
