<p>A tambour or roller blind system comprising tambours 9,10, cylindrical rollers 14,11, and spigots 12, 15 is used at the front and at the back of a chair 1 or any other piece of furniture where the main body is adjustably mounted on a supporting base 2 to block accidental access to the space between the body and the base, which is variable according to the position the chair is adjusted to, in order to avoid entrapment of pets, children or limbs. The sides of the chair are blocked by side walls 8 comprising overlapping movable panels. A second alternative embodiment includes replacing the front tambour system with a guided flap mechanism comprising flap (18, Fig 6) hinged from its lower edge at (19, Fig. 6) and guided at its top edge by arcuate guides (21, Fig. 6). A third embodiment uses a modified version of the tambour, at the front of the chair, where the part of the tambour (25, Fig.9) that is not exposed, is housed fully expanded on horizontal guides (26, Fig 9) which run towards the back of the chair.</p> |
