A method and apparatus (10), comprising a conveyor assembly and/or a shuttle assembly, for forming a headliner are described. The method of forming a headliner includes overlaying a cover material (22) onto a multi-layer substrate (26) and at least partially separating the cover material (22) from the substrate (26) during the overlaying. The cover material (22) is clamped separately from the substrate (22). The overlayed cover material (22) and substrate (26) are then transported into a mold (34). The substrate (26) is unclamped while the cover material (22) remains clamped, and the cover material (22) and substrate (26) are molded together to form the headliner. |
