PURPOSE: An apparatus for sensing the leakage of a hazardous material storage tank is provided to assure the safety and reliability of use by effectively sensing hazardous material leaked by a damage of the storage tank or intruded ground water and generating an alarm sound as a sensing signal. CONSTITUTION: A vertical through hole(1) is formed through the upper and lower sides of an inner wall(140) of the storage tank(100) for elevating and lowering a buoyant body(2) therewithin. Within the vertical through hole(1) at the upper side of the buoyant body(2), a sensing unit(3) circuit-connected with an alarm sound generating unit(5) at the upper side of the vertical through hole(1) is fixed for generating an alarm sound by the contact of the buoyant body(2) with respect to the sensing unit(3).
