The invention relates to a vessel for storing housekeeping sponges in hygienic conditions, being meant for every person which uses sponges for washing up dishes, windows, cars, etc. According to the invention, the vessel comprises a body (1) provided with several compartments (A, B and C), one compartment (A) being separated from the lower detergent-storing compartment (B) and the upper sponge-storing compartment (C) by a vertical wall (12), said two compartments (B and C) being separated from each other by a membrane (2) with some orifices (a), the compartment (A) being provided with an element (5) for the actuation of some lids (3) and of a piston (9), which, by means of some threads (6) passing over some deviating rollers (7), locks the lids (3) in the open position, while the piston (9) fixed on the operating element (5) produces an increase of the pressure in the lower detergent-storing compartment (B).
