PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a dialkyl carbonate, capable of solving the problem that, to separate and obtain a highly purified alkylene carbonate suitable for the raw material for ester exchange reaction, a complicated treatment and much energy are required. SOLUTION: This method for producing the dialkyl carbonate comprises transesterification between an alkylene carbonate and an alkanol and is characterized by using, as a raw material for the transesterification, an alkylene carbonate separated from a reaction product obtained by reacting an alkylene oxide with CO2 gas in the presence of water at >=50% but <=95% alkylene oxide conversion.
