PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: Not only to reduce power consumption at the time of standby or the like of a liquid crystal display device and a portable terminal device, but also to improve them in a product value and convenience. SOLUTION: A TG part 15 sets a background display area at the time of partial driving, and also specifies a display color. As to a partial display area, a source driver 12 applies voltage to each data line based on the data transferred from RAM 13, and applies voltage to the data line based on a color specification signal specified from the TG part 15 as to the background display area.
