1388079 Rotary press filter IMPROVED MACHINERY Inc 30 April 1973 [15 May 1972] 20389/73 Heading BID Fibrous suspension is delivered by pipes 160 to arcuate spaces defined between respective contra-rotating filter drums 142, 144 and their fixed baffles 164 and pivoted baffles 170, baffles 170 being urged towards the drums by delivery of washing liquid through pipes 184 to spaces 176, the liquid washing the filter cake where it passes beyond the free ends of baffles 170 and the washed cake being finally pressed between the drums at 150, scraped therefrom by blades 152 and removed from the housing by screw 156. Baffles 170 have jacks 182 which may urge them continuously towards the drums or merely raise them before the process begins. Additional pressing baffles 1 and 6 may be urged upwards by jacks 190. Baffles 170 are reinforced by ribs 178 over their leading parts and coated with P.T.F.E. over their trailing parts. Baffles 164, 170 together enclose 80 to 140 degrees of their respective drums. Sprays 158 wash the drums downstream of blades 152. Drums may be movable laterally to vary the nip width. |
