PURPOSE:To avoid the test cut for a workpiece and widen the application range for the work by comparing the detected value and the set value for an acoustic emission (AE) signal used for the detection of the abrasion of a tool in a machine tool and operating an alarm. CONSTITUTION:When a material 2 to be cut is worked by a hobbing machine 3 equipped with a hobbing machine body 1, the AE signal generated as the result of the abrasion of a hob 3 is converted to an electrical signal by an AE sensor 4, and said AE signal is input into a microcomputer 7 and a comparator 9 through an AE-signal detector 5 constituted of an amplifier 5a, BPF5b and 5c, and a rectifier 5d, and an A/D converter 6. In the microcomputer 7, the set value of the AE signal for the abrasion limit is calculated by a CPU7e, and said set value and the AE signal at present are compared in the comparator 9. When the AE signal at present exceeds the set value, an alarm (lamp) 10 is lighten-up to give an alarm. |
