PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a nickel electrode for an alkaline storage battery manufactured by filling an active material mainly comprising nickel hydroxide in pores of a porous sintered substrate so as to obtain high discharge capacity even in charge under high temperature environment in the alkaline storage battery using the nickel electrode for the alkaline storage battery as a positive electrode. SOLUTION: In the nickel electrode for the alkaline storage battery manufactured by filling the active material mainly comprising nickel hydroxide in pores of the porous sintered substrate, titanium hydroxide is made to exist on the surface of the nickel hydroxide, and in the alkaline storage battery having a positive electrode 1, a negative electrode 2, and an alkaline electrolyte, the nickel electrode for the alkaline storage battery is used in the positive electrode.
