A dog suffering or recovering from a disease affecting his ability to mount stairs or to enter a vehicle, but otherwise of good health can be lifted or carried temporarily in the new design of a carrier. The device is made of three rectangular (S1, T) and two square sheets (S2), comprising a watertight outer layer, a soft central layer, and an inner layer made of any suitable material. The sheets are joined in order to form a cross-shape with zip fasteners (R) sewn along the corners. The bottom (T) can be reinforced with a rigid inner sheet. The dog can enter the unfolded device, the zips (R) are fastened and the carrier is lifted using the handles (H1, H2) provided at the upper edges of three of the segments (S1, S2).
