Rubber or plastics conveyor belt is reinforced with steel cables of identical diameter which are arranged in two or more layers and are offset from layer to layer and held at intervals. The belt ends can be joined by stripping the cover fabric, baring the ends of the cables in the layers which protrude from either belt end and relative the other belt end, and then meshing these together and covering, with final vulcanising. Flexibility, high impact strength, durability and easy running are claimed. |
