PURPOSE: A method for receiving a message in a mobile communication terminal is provided to output an EMS(Enhanced Messaging Service) message including voices and pictures of a 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project) mobile communication. CONSTITUTION: A 3GPP terminal judges whether a received short message is an EMS message in which a sound is included in a certain position of the received short message(S101). If the received short message is the EMS message, the 3GPP terminal grasps the position in which the sound is included(S102). The 3GPP terminal outputs a character message through a display unit since a text corresponding to the character message exists in a position before the position in which the sound is included(S103). The 3GPP terminal calculates a letter number of the displayed character message, and maintains a suitable time(S104). The 3GPP terminal outputs the sound included in the short message(S105). The 3GPP terminal judges whether a next sound is included(S106). If the next sound is included, the 3GPP terminal displays a character message located in a position in which the next sound is included.
