Upper(4) and lower(3) parts of the press have heated platens(6,7) with inlet guide plates(8,9) forming a mouth(E). Endless steel belts(5) are supported on the platens and inlet plates by roller bars(10). An adjustment system(12) sets the inlet mouth shape. A further mechanism(11) for setting the mouth gap includes running rolls(13,14) for the steel belts prior to the inlet guide plates. The running rolls act as compression rolls and form a precompression zone for the material mat(2) entering the press. Several compression rolls(13,14) on the upper and/or lower side of the inlet(E) contact the steel belts(5) and are adjustable against the latter. The rolls are arranged adjacent to each other in a row and form a prescribed inlet radius(R) for the belts. A counter roll(14) is located opposite the final compression roll on the underside of the inlet just prior to the upper inlet plate. In the inlet mouth there is a material mat transfer plate or conveyer(18) with a nose(19). The nose can be moved towards or away from the inlet mouth depending on material properties such as thickness, scattering density, final plate thickness and other parameters. Horizontal and/or vertical movement of the conveyer and nose is by a power unit(20) with control unit(21). |
