The striker assembly consists of a U-shaped rod (4) with three sides (10, 11, 14) to interact with the lock bolt, a retaining plate (6) for the rod which is fixed to a door frame upright (2). and a plastic insert (8) with at least one locating projection that is fitted to the plate before it is fastened to the upright. The plate has positioning elements for the rod (4), and the insert is fixed rigidly to the plate, e.g. by overmoulding or ultrasound welding, to ensure correct positioning of the rod for alignment with the bolt.
