Heater for drinking water comprises a water circulation system (B), heater (15) and disinfection chamber (2). Water is held in the disinfection chamber at 65[deg] C for a long enough time to kill Legionella bacteria. A withdrawal funnel (E.Tr.) allows disinfected water to be fed to a heat exchanger (10) and mixer valves (11, 12) which control the amount and temperature of the water. It is then fed on to a distribution system (A) connected to a number of taps. All the water in the network passes over the heat exchanger and undergoes sterilisation.
