PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a playback device, a supplier device, etc., by which the rental period for a user can be limited at the time of renting a digital literary works. SOLUTION: A provider device 20 writes agent-rental expiry END2 along with a contents onto a DVD at the time of manufacturing the DVD to be provided to a rental agent. At the time of renting the DVD to the user, a rental agent device 30 writes user-expiry END1 onto the DVD. A DVD player 40 acquires the current time NOW from a time providing device 50 and compares the current time NOW with each of prior time OLD, the agent-renal expiry END2 and the user-rental expiry END1 and only when playback conditions are met, plays back the content. |
