The present invention relates to an oral pharmaceutical formulation containing active carbon and the use of it in preparing oral medicament for treating hyperthyroidation. The amount of active carbon in said formulation is at least 15% by weight. The administration dose of active carbon in the oral medicament of present invention is in the range of 1g to 150 g per day, there is no obvious undesirable effect in patient after administration. Active carbon will be bound to thyroid hormone which is excreted into small intestine, thereby block the enterohepatic circulation of thyroid hormone, promote the intestinal excretion and decrease the level in serum rapidly. The oral pharmaceutical formulation of present invention is fully suitable for all clinical states which cannot be treated with antithyroid agent and all clinical states to which antithyroid agent triggers therapeutic effect timely.
