PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the trouble concerned in selecting operation for contents when the contents which are frequently reproduced are reproduced. SOLUTION: In a storage part 121, the titles and reproduction frequencies of contents recorded on a disk 101 are registered. A system controller 120 increases the reproduction frequency registered together with the title of the contents by one each time the contents on the disk 101 are reproduced. Further, a selection indication and a reproduction indication for contents to be reproduced are received from a user through an operation part 118 and a menu selection picture displayed on a display device connected to a video output terminal 114. At this time, the contents of the largest reproduction frequency are highlighted and displayed in an initial state in the menu selection picture.
