PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct an image in real time by adding an optical image detecting function to a projector which projects an image on a separately prepared screen and comparing an original image with an actual image. SOLUTION: An image correcting device used for the projector comprises a display element 2 which receives light from a light source and outputs an image, a spectroscope 5 which passes the image from the display element 2, an enlargement and reduction optical system 3 which optically enlarges the image from the spectroscope 5, the screen 4 where the image of the enlargement and reduction optical system 3 is displayed, an imaging device 6 which captures the image on the screen 4 through the reduction by the enlargement and reduction optical system 3, and a comparative operation and image correction part which inputs the image to a display element 2, captures the image of the imaging device 6, compares the picked-up image with the original image, and corrects the picked-up image of the original image.
