PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of measuring not only a black toner patch, but also, a toner patch in light color such as white difficult to be measured by the conventional reflection type densitometer, and capable of highly accurately controlling the toner quantity, and to provide an image forming apparatus capable of adjusting the toner quantity for the color toner having no sensitivity for transmission density. SOLUTION: As for the image forming apparatus provided with at least an image forming means for forming the toner patch or an image and the toner patch on the surface of a recording medium, an image detecting means for detecting the toner patch formed by the image forming means and outputting the detection result, and a control means for controlling the image forming condition of the image forming means in accordance with the outputted detection result, the image detecting means is provided with a light irradiation means for irradiating the toner patch with light, and a light receiving means for receiving the transmissive light emitted from the light irradiation means and then transmitted through the recording medium. |
