METHOD FOR PRODUCING CUMENE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing cumene by hydrocracking cumyl alcohol in the presence of a copper-based catalyst and recycling a part of a reaction liquid after the hydrocracking and uniting the liquid to a raw material to be fed to the hydrocracking. SOLUTION: This method for producing cumene is to hydrocrack cumyl alcohol in the presence of the copper-based catalyst and recycle a part of the reaction liquid after the hydrocracking to unite to the raw material to be fed to the hydrocracking. The method is applied as a process after oxidizing cumene to obtain cumene hydroperoxide and reacting cumene hydroperoxide with propylene in a liquid phase in the presence of a solid catalyst to obtain propylene oxide and cumyl alcohol.
