PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preventing or ameliorating means effective for pigment anomaly accompanying inflammation and pigment anomaly such as freckle. SOLUTION: An excellent bleaching cosmetic for dealing with skin- melanization phenomena associated with a melanocyte and a macrophage is provided by making the cosmetic contain an essence of Uncaria gambir ROXBURGH belonging to the genus Uncaria of Rubiaceae, preferably the essence of leaves and sprigs, having excellent activities for inhibiting the extension of a dendrite of the melanocyte.
