PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent malfunction of a governor device and its snagging to an apparatus in an elevator shaft by minimizing displacement of a governor rope even when a building is swayed by a strong wind or an earthquake. SOLUTION: The bracing device for the governor rope is provided in an elevator provided with the governor rope 21 interlocked with a car 5 vertically moving in an elevator shaft. It is characterized by that L-shaped steels constraining displacement to one horizontal side are arranged around the governor rope 21 interlocked with the car 5 in one part or the whole of the elevator shaft.
