PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method of line thermal printer and a line thermal printer for use therein in which variation in the driving speed of a sheet feed motor incident to variation of division number is moderated and a sheet feed motor can be prevented from vibrating due to abrupt deceleration. SOLUTION: When the driving speed of a sheet feed motor 18 is made slower than the driving speed at the time of division driving with an arbitrary division number by making a switch from division driving with an arbitrary division number to division driving with a larger division number, switching point P of division driving is detected based on record data and the driving speed of the sheet feed motor 18 is lowered from a point of a specified number of steps before the detected switching point P.
